Sad But True

Posted by Stop Acid Attacks On Saturday, May 11, 2013 1 comment

With extreme sadness and despair we regret to announce that the inauguration of our rehabilitation center and the seminar scheduled on 12th May is postponed due to unavailability of suitable place for the center. We are greatly hurt by the attitude of several landlords with whom we have tried to lease the place for such a Noble cause. We have almost closed the deal for at least three to four houses but sadly none of them could go thriugh as at the last moment the landowners have backed off giving some stupid alibi. They have problem with leasing their place for Acid patients. We did not ask the place on charity for free we agreed to pay the rent as per market rate but strangely no one agreed. This shows the true face of the society. At one hand people talk of doing great things for society, helping the society but when it comes to getting face to face with the reality they back off.
But this is just a starting hurdle, we will not be disheartened with it rather we will retry with more vigor and focus. This rehabilitation center is a dream for us and hope for many acid victims. We will make this happen. We are looking for places at other location and we solicit help from all of you to give us reference of any house we can lease. We will announce a new date for the event as soon as we get a place and we close the rental agreement. Please bear with us for sometime and help us in what ever way you can.
Thank you and sorry for any inconvenience we would have caused.

  1. Deeply disturbing attitude of society. You are so right in saying society prepares the crime and the criminal commits it; I'd like to add...and society then continues the crime of victimization in hundreds of ways. My good wishes to you all. May your cause find a home, soon. I salute your courage.

    About Us

SAA is a campaign against acid violence. We work as a bridge between survivors and the society, as most of the victims of this brutal crime, which is much more grave in its impact than a rape, have isolated themselves after losing their face. Due to ignorance of the government and civil society, most survivors find no hope and stay like an outcast, in solitude. SAA aims to research and track acid attack cases and compile a data to get the actual situation of survivors.

    Our Mission

We work with partners and stakeholders towards elimination of acid and other forms of burn violence and protection of survivors' rights. The process of justice to an acid attack victim remains incomplete until she gets immediate medical, legal and economic help, along with the critical social acceptance. Our vision is to free India from this crime, which reflects the flaws of our patriarchal society and abusive attitudes. We want survivors to have access to fast justice and fight back the irreparable impact of this crime.

    Support Us

Any amount you can donate to us, no matter how small, will be very gratefully received and put to good use helping acid and burns violence survivors. Your help could help pay for dressings and medical supplies for recuperating patients. A small help could help survivors with vital physical rehabilitation after an attack, including physical therapy and nursing.
